Diss Rugby Club is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Ross Johnson, a valued member of our club and community.

Ross joined Diss RFC after moving to Norfolk in the early 1990s, having already played top-level rugby in Kelso, Scotland. A naturally strong and technically gifted player, he read the game exceptionally well and was known for his vision, versatility, and passion. Whether in the front five or back row, Ross could always be relied upon, and his trademark rolled-down socks became part of his identity on the pitch.
Ross also proudly represented Norfolk RFC. He was always generous with his knowledge, offering encouragement and guidance to those younger players coming through.
Off the field, Ross was a central and much-respected figure within the club. Warm, enthusiastic, and quietly influential, he never sought attention but made a lasting impact on everyone around him.
Away from rugby, Ross built a successful career in agriculture, most recently as Branch Manager at Ernest Doe in Wymondham. His deep knowledge of farming and machinery, alongside strong relationships within the agricultural community, earned him great respect.
A proud Scotsman, Ross embraced his heritage, taking any opportunity to wear his kilt with pride.
