Following on from our success at West Norfolk we travelled to Holt to take part in their development festival. We were drawn in league 1 against Wymondham, Norwich and West Norfolk.
We started really slowly in our first game against Wymondham. After abandoning the new defensive set up and starting to tag the comeback was on, with a strong second half display we managed to win the game 7 – 6
The second and third games were not so tight and with some fantastic running from deep and wonderful defensive work by all the players we won both games 7 – 3 v’s West Norfolk and 7 – 2 v’s Norwich.

Gaining maximum points from the league games took us through to the semi - final against the League 2 runners up North Walsham. This was a really close match with great play from both teams. Diss showed fantastic resolve and determination to come back from 4 – 2 down to end with a 5 – 5 draw. The fact that NW scored the first try meant they went through to the final which they eventually won against Holt.

Diss played the plate final against West Norfolk. The match was much closer than the league game and was 2 -2 at half time. In the second half the benefit of having 3 subs helped Diss to come out on top with some great individual tries by our team. One try was scored from our own try line reminiscent of Chris Ashton against Australia last year! The final score was Diss 6 – West Norfolk 3.

I was very proud of all the children. Everyone played their part with either great tagging or try scoring. It was also evident that we have a fantastic team spirit with everyone joining in the try celebrations. We managed to go through the tournament without losing a game.
I would also like to thank all the parents. Their constant support from the sideline was amazing and gave the kids a real lift.
